Manchester United are ready to hand Anthony Martial a a £45m five-year deal, according to a report in England
Manchester United are ready to reward Anthony Martial for his recent form with a five-year contract worth £190,000-a-week, according to a report in England.
The Sun is reporting that the Red Devils are prepared to pay the France international a £45m five-year deal to secure Martial’s long-term fixture at the Old Trafford outfit.
The same article claims that the 22-year-old recently rejected a deal estimated to be worth £160,000-a-week but the former Lyon forward wants to remain at Manchester United.
According to the same story, Manchester United will launch fresh talks with Martial’s representatives this week in the hope of striking a deal with the French winger.
Indeed, The Sun report that the 20-time English champions are hoping to secure their number 11’s future by Christmas given interest from Serie A giants Juventus.
The British media outlet go on to quote an unnamed source within the club who shed light on Manchester United’s planned negotiations with their in-form forward.
Their source tells The Sun: “It would cost us £100m to replace Anthony at least, his future has to be here at United.
“There have been encouraging signs a deal can be done and also having the 12 month option has crystallised thinking on both sides of the negotiations.
“United always finds the money when it is in the best interests of the club, and keeping Martial is a top priority at this current time.”
Martial moved to Manchester United in a £36m deal from Ligue 1 side AS Monaco in the 2015 summer transfer window under Louis van Gaal.
The France international scored 17 times in his debut campaign in the Premier League after Martial netted on his debut in Manchester United’s 3-1 win over bitter rivals Liverpool FC in September 2015.
The 22-year-old has struggled to maintain consistent form under Jose Mourinho during his first two seasons in charge.
However, Martial appears to have turned a corner in recent weeks after netting in his last four games in the Premier League to help the Red Devils collect 10 points.
Manchester United will take on Premier League leaders Manchester City at The Etihad in the Premier League on Sunday evening.
