Guillem Balague provides latest Man United transfer update on Antoine Griezmann
The La Liga expert believes Barcelona are leading Manchester United in the race to sign Antoine Griezmann
Barcelona are leading Manchester United in the race to sign Antoine Griezmann, according to Guillem Balgue.
The Red Devils were heavily linked with a move to sign the France international from Atletico Madrid in the summer.
Indeed, the Atletico striker appeared to be on the brink of a move before los Rojiblancos’ transfer ban resulted in Griezman committing to the Spanish side.
The France forward has struggled to find his prolific form in the 2017-18 season, but Griezmann continues to be a hot property in the transfer market.
Indeed, La Liga leaders Barcelona are interested in signing the Atletico striker to bolster their attacking options following Neymar’s move to Paris Saint-Germain.
Manchester United continue to be linked with Griezmann as the Red Devils look to add more firepower to their squad.
But La Liga expert Balague has admitted that Barcelona appear more likely than Manchester United to sign Griezmann.
“Man United were the only team to put a massive offer on the table,” Balague told the Transfer Talk podcast on Sky Sports.
“He thought about it twice. That surprised Mourinho. He had spoken to Griezmann. It was all agreed.
“Man United are waiting for his decision. They don’t know yet. Barcelona are favourites.”
Mourinho has signed Paul Pogba, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Eric Bailly last year.
The Manchester United boss snapped up Romelu Lukaku, Victor Lindelof and Nemanja Matic in the 2017 summer transfer window.
