Tottenham urged to sell 27-year-old to Man United in £50m deal

Danny Murphy believes Tottenham should consider a £50m offer for Danny Rose if Chelsea or Man United cough up the cash

Tottenham Hotspur should sell Danny Rose if Chelsea or Manchester United offer £50m, Danny Murphy has claimed.

The England international has emerged as a target for both the Premier League champions and the Europa League holders.

Antonio Conte is thought to be keen to improve his full-back options as Chelsea prepare for a return to the Champions League.

Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho was heavily critical of the England international Luke Shaw throughout his first campaign at Old Trafford.

Rose spoke out in the media earlier this month in a controversial interview to hint at his desire to complete a lucrative move in the future.

Former Tottenham midfielder Murphy believes Spurs should consider a £50m offer for the 27-year-old left-back.

“If Chelsea or Manchester United offer £50m for Danny Rose, it would be logical to let him go,” Murphy told the Evening Standard.

“Rose is an excellent player who has improved a great deal but there are a lot of left-backs around.

“The player Tottenham really need to keep is Toby Alderweireld. Centre-backs of that quality do not grow on trees, so Tottenham have to find a way to pay him what he is worth, without breaking the financial codes they have in place.

“There are always ways and means of doing that and Tottenham might have to be creative to keep hold of one or two of their better players.”

Tottenham have already sold Kyle Walker to Manchester City for a world-record fee for a defender earlier this summer.

Spurs finished in second place in the Premier League table last season after ending up seven points behind eventual champions Chelsea.

Manchester United have signed Benfica defender Victor Lindelof, Everton striker Romelu Lukaku and Chelsea midfielder Nemanja Matic in the summer transfer window so far.

Chelsea, meanwhile, have added Willy Caballero, Antonio Rudiger, Tiemoue Bakayoko and Alvaro Morata to their title-winning squad.
