David De Gea set to hand Man United huge transfer boost – report
Manchester United are set to hand David De Gea a new five-year deal, according to a report
David De Gea has committed to signing a new five-year deal with Manchester United, according to a report in the local British media.
Manchester Evening News is reporting that the Spain international has agreed to put pen to paper on a five-year contract with the Premier League runners up this summer.
The same article states that De Gea is prepared to finally end persistent speculation linking the Spanish goalkeeper with a move to La Liga giants Real Madrid in recent seasons.
According to the same story, Champions League holders Real Madrid were prepared to make De Gea the most expensive goalkeeper in the world with a staggering £100m bid.
But De Gea is set to commit to a new long-term deal at Old Trafford to ensure Jose Mourinho can continue to rebuild the 20-time English champions.
The Manchester United number one was close to a switch to Real Madrid in the 2015 summer transfer window but the proposed deal fell through on deadline day in Spain.
De Gea has consistently been Manchester United’s best player since Sir Alex Ferguson stood down as manager in 2013.
The Spanish shot stopper has won the Premier League, the FA Cup, the League Cup and the Europa League this term.
