Manchester United are no closer to resolving David De Gea’s future at the club, according to reports in the British media.
Sky Sports is reporting that the Red Devils have not recently made any progress on securing De Gea’s future, with his current deal set to expire next summer.
De Gea’s contract situation means that he could sign a pre-contract agreement with foreign clubs as early as January.
According to the same report, the 28-year-old wants assurances that Manchester United will be able to compete for major honours in the coming seasons before committing his future to the club.
It is also claimed in the same story that De Gea wants to be handed wages in line with some other top earners at the club, including Alexis Sanchez.
De Gea played every single game for Manchester United in the Premier League this season but he found himself in the spotlight towards the end of the campaign following a string of high-profile errors.
Meanwhile, the same story says that Manchester United are poised to undergo a “major overhaul” in the summer transfer window as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer prepares for his first full season in charge of the Red Devils.
