Manchester United are expected to sign Norwegian wonderkid Erling Haaland in the January transfer window, according to a report in Italy.

Italian media outlet Corriere dello Sport, as quoted by the Manchester Evening News, is reporting that Manchester United will sign the Red Bull Salzburg star.

The same article states that Napoli were interested in a swoop to sign the teenager in the January transfer window but the Serie A side have ended their pursuit of the teenager.

According to the same story, the Serie A club are no longer chasing Haaland because they believe that Manchester United have already agreed a deal to sign the 19-year-old.

Manchester United will have landed a transfer coup if they do sign Haaland given that the Norwegian teenager is considered to be one of the most exciting attacking prospects in Europe.

Haaland has scored 12 goals in 10 league games in the Austrian top flight so far this season to make an impressive start to the campaign.

The RB Salzburg star got on the scoresheet in their 4-3 loss to Liverpool FC in the Champions League group stage at Anfield earlier this month.

Haaland’s father Alfe Inge Haaland famously clashed with former Manchester United captain Roy Keane on a couple of occasions during his Premier League career.
