Man United urged to sign 23-year-old Brazilian to improve key position
Manchester United have been told that Fabinho would be an upgrade on their current options in midfield, according to Steve Nicol

Fabinho would get into the Manchester United team ahead of Jose Mourinho’s current options in defensive midfield, according to Steve Nicol.
The Brazil international has been heavily linked with a move to the Red Devils in the summer transfer window as Mourinho looks to improve his squad ahead of a return to the Champions League.
The Manchester United manager is thought to be keen to improve his squad depth when it comes to holding midfielders given Michael Carrick is in the twilight of his Old Trafford career.
Indeed, the 35-year-old signed a one-year contract extension earlier this summer but there is uncertainty about how many more years the midfielder can still play at the highest level.
Manchester United have been linked with a move to sign Chelsea midfielder Nemanja Matic and Tottenham Hotspur star Eric Dier over the past couple of weeks.
However, former Liverpool defender Nicol believes Fabinho would be a great option for Manchester United if the Red Devils were able to conclude a deal to sign the Brazilian from Monaco.
“I’d have to say he goes ahead of the majority of their players in the middle of the park,” Nicol told ESPN FC.
“He’s coming from a team in Monaco who have a winning mentality, the guy has quality. Mourinho obviously knows him from Real Madrid, so for me he walks into the side.
“I’m not sure other than Paul Pogba who is ahead of him, so I think this is a no-brainer again.
“I think this guy is a great player and again, he’s bringing a winning mentality from Monaco and I think that’s the one thing that’s missing for United.
“OK, they won the Europa League and they won the League Cup, but let’s be honest, you didn’t get the impression this was a team when it stepped on the field had that winning mentality.”
