Man United could beat Man City to signing of 25-year-old Brazilian – report
Manchester United could be set to sign Fred from Shakhtar Donetsk this summer, according to reports

Manchester United could be set to beat Manchester City to the signing of Fred from Shakhtar Donetsk, according to reports in the British media.
The Times is reporting that Manchester City have “cooled” their interest in signing the 25-year-old Brazilian and that he could now be on the move to Old Trafford instead.
The same report says that City were eyeing a move for Fred as a potential long-term replacement for Fernandinho, who turns 33 in May, but a move to The Etihad for the midfielder is now looking unlikely.
According to the same article, Manchester City are now poised to turn their attentions towards a move to sign Julian Weigl from Borussia Dortmund.
And that could open up the possibility of Manchester United making a move to sign Fred as Jose Mourinho looks to bolster his midfield options this summer.
Fred has scored one goal and made one assist in eight Champions League appearances for Shakhtar Donetsk so far this season.
Meanwhile, Manchester United are currently preparing for their FA Cup quarter-final clash against Brighton at Old Trafford on Saturday after the Red Devils were dumped out of the Champions League at the hands of Sevilla on Tuesday night.
