Gary Neville identifies where Man United need signings
Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville highlights where Man United need some signings
Gary Neville says Manchester United need a number of new signings to improve Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s squad.
The Red Devils have made a disappointing start to the new Premier League following a return of just two victories from six outings.
Manchester United lost 2-0 to West Ham United at the London Stadium on Sunday afternoon to heap pressure on Solskjaer.
The Red Devils are already 10 points behind Premier League leaders Liverpool FC after a return of eight points from six games.
The Manchester United manager signed three new players in the summer but neither Harry Maguire, Daniel James nor Aaron Wan-Bissaka have been able to elevate the Red Devils to another level.
Solskjaer’s side lacked creativity in the middle of the park in east London, while their defence has already conceded six times in six games.
Former Manchester United defender Neville highlighted some areas of the team that need to be improved.
“I’m not panicking as a fan,” Neville told Sky Sports. “I’m frustrated but not panicking.
“What I would say is they have to quickly and efficiently identify three or four players to go alongside De Gea and Maguire. They need a couple of midfield players, they need a striker to carry the front line, they need a wide player and they need a left-back.
“You can’t kid football fans. There are five or six players required.
“They have to be the right type and that might take 18 months because they might not be able to get the players they want.”
Manchester United finished in sixth place in the Premier League table last term for the second time in three seasons.
The Red Devils haven’t won the Premier League title since Sir Alex Ferguson was in charge back in 2013.
Manchester United were 1-0 winners against FC Astana in their Europa League opener courtesy of Mason Greenwood’s goal last week.
