Manchester United would be willing to pay £65m to sign Leicester defender Harry Maguire, according to Sky Sports reporter Dharmesh Sheth.
The Red Devils are in the market to sign a centre-half in the summer transfer window to bolster their defence ahead of the new season.
Manchester United have been linked with a move to sign Belgium defender Toby Alderweireld from Tottenham Hotspur.
However, Spurs have proven tough negotiators and have refused to reduce their asking price for the 29-year-old.
Manchester United are thought to be ready to turn to England defender Maguire from Leicester to improve their back four.
Maguire, though, would command a huge transfer fee on the back of his excellent World Cup performances.
Sky Sports News reporter Sheth claimed that Manchester United would be willing to pay £65m for the 25-year-old English star.
“Let’s begin by signing we shouldn’t be surprised there is interest in Maguire,” Sheth told the Transfer Talk podcast.
“We are told Man United have approached Leicester about Maguire. They would be willing to pay around £65m. It understood he would be keen to move to Man United.”
Manchester United ended up in second spot in the Premier League table last season to secure their best finish since Jose Mourinho took over.
The Red Devils have signed Shakthar Donetsk star Fred, FC Porto defender Diogo Dalot and Stoke goalkeeper Lee Grant.
