Manchester United are ready to spend £80m on Leicester City defender Harry Maguire, according to a report in England.
The Sun is reporting that the Red Devils are prepared to make the England international the most expensive defender in the world in the 2019 summer transfer window.
The same article states that Manchester United executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward is ready to do whatever it takes to get a deal for Maguire over the line.
According to the same story, the 20-time English champions are prepared to make Maguire one of the best-paid players at the club with a contract worth £350,000 a week.
The Sun go on to add that Manchester United could use Eric Bailly and Marcos Rojo as part of a deal to sign the former Hull City defender before the start of the new Premier League season.
Manchester United are also reportedly hoping that assistant manager Mike Phelan can play a role in convincing Maguire to move to Old Trafford after he managed the centre-half at Hull City in the 2016-17 campaign.
The Red Devils had a worse defensive record than Leicester last term after the 20-time English champions conceded 54 times in 38 games in the Premier League.
Manchester United finished in sixth spot in the Premier League table last term.
