Manchester United could hijack FC Barcelona’s bid to sign Atletico Madrid striker Antoine Griezmann, according to a report.

Spanish publication Sport, as quoted by the Daily Mirror is reporting that the Red Devils can’t be ruled out of the race to sign the France international in the upcoming summer transfer window.

The same article states that FC Barcelona were thought to be on the brink of concluding a deal to sign the Atletico star ahead of the new season.

However, the report goes on to claim the FC Barcelona squad don’t want the Catalan side to sign Griezmann and have vetoed a potential transfer.

According to the same story, FC Barcelona’s hesitancy has presented Manchester United with a chance to swoop to sign the World Cup winner.

The Daily Mirror report goes on to reveal that his transfer release clause is currently at €200m (£175m) but will come down to €100m (£87m) at the start of July.

Griezmann scored 21 times in 47 games in all competitions for Atletico this season in a mixed campaign for the French forward.

The Atletico star has flirted with a move to both FC Barcelona and Manchester United in the past but a transfer has failed to materialise.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is thought to be eager to sign a new striker this summer as he looks to add to his squad ahead of next season.
