Ian Wright identifies signing Man United need before deadline day
The Arsenal legend believes Manchester United need to sign a centre-half on deadline day

Ian Wright believes Manchester United are in desperate need of centre-half before the transfer deadline day on Thursday.
The Red Devils have been linked with a host of centre-halves in the 2018 summer transfer window so far.
Manchester United have been linked with a swoop to sign Tottenham Hotspur defender Toby Alderweireled throughout the summer.
However, Spurs have proven tough negotiators despite the uncertainty surrounding Alderweireld’s long-term future at the north London side.
Leicester City’s England star Harry Maguire has been named as a potential big-money signing for the Red Devils following his performances at the World Cup.
Manchester United are rumoured to be keeping tabs on another World Cup star in the shape of Yerry Mina, who moved to FC Barcelona from the Brazil top flight in January.
Former Arsenal striker Wright believes Manchester United need a new centre-half to improve their defence ahead of the new Premier League campaign.
“It is blatantly obvious that United need central defenders, which is why he has shown an interest in Leicester’s Harry Maguire and Tottenham’s Toby Alderweireld,” Wright told BBC Sport.
“I am not sure whether he will get either of them before Thursday’s deadline though.”
Manchester United finished in second place in the Premier League table last season to secure their best league position since Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement.
The Red Devils haven’t won the Premier League title since 2013 when Ferguson’s men beat Manchester City to the top-flight crown.
Mourinho’s side will start their Premier League campaign with a clash against Leicester.
