Real Madrid president delivers update on reported Man United transfer target
Florentino Perez has warned James Rodriguez that Real Madrid are under no pressure to sell the midfielder this summer
Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has warned James Rodriguez that he may not get the transfer away from the club he wants this summer.
The Colombia international has been heavily linked with a move away from the Spanish club this summer after falling down the pecking order at The Bernabeu.
Manchester United have been touted as a possible destination for the 25-year-old as Jose Mourinho looks to bolster his midfield options ahead of next season.
However, it now appears clear that Real Madrid will not sell the player unless they feel that his valuation is met this summer.
Real Madrid president Perez is quoted as saying by Metro: “He (Rodriguez) is one of the best players in the world.
“He belongs to Madrid and Madrid players do not leave when they want to or their parents wants them to.
“We have to match the interests of the players with ours, but mostly those of Madrid.”
Rodriguez’s future has been a relentless source of speculation since his lack of playing time last season culminated in him not even making the bench for the Champions League final clash with Juventus.
Manchester United are thought to be on the lookout for a number of new signings this summer as Mourinho gears up for his second season in charge at Old Trafford.
