Jamie Carragher has suggested that Manchester United need to sell, David De Gea, Anthony Martial and Paul Pogba after Sunday’s 4-0 loss at Everton.

Manchester United suffered a fifth successive loss on the road in all competitions to cast doubt on their hopes of finishing in the top four.

The Red Devils appeared to suffer a Champions League hangover at Goodison Park after Manchester United slumped to a 3-0 loss at FC Barcelona in the second leg of their quarter-final at Camp Nou.

Goals from Richarlison, Gylfi Sigurdsson, Lucas Digne and Theo Walcott sealed a resounding 4-0 victory for Marco Silva’s side against Manchester United.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side have lost six of their last eight games in all competitions to heap pressure on the Norwegian since his appointment as permanent manager last month.

Now, former Liverpool FC defender Carragher has named three players who could be running out of time at Manchester United due to their poor attitude on the pitch.

“Yes without a doubt [the players are responsible],” Carragher told Sky Sports.

“I think we’ve all been critical of Man United at the start of the season, they should have been doing better.

“Was Jose Mourinho getting enough out of the players? No, he wasn’t.

“And I think a lot of things we said were brought back up in this great run, a lot of times I was pulled up on social media by United fans, things that have been said about Pogba or different players.

“They’ve been here a long time and the fact that Solskjaer is now coming out and questioning players and the same names are coming up, Pogba, Martial, the same players all the time.

“And the only thing I can think of, when I was at Liverpool we weren’t the team at the top of the league winning things.

“You’d have a great player, say Stevie Gerrard, Robbie Fowler, Luis Suarez – and you think ‘we can’t lose this player, we can’t lose him, he’s everything’.

“I think that about some of the United players. It feels like De Gea’s messing around with his contract, Pogba’s the same, maybe Martial’s just signed one.

“This idea that these players can’t leave your club and it will all fall apart – it’s Man United, one of the biggest clubs in the world, and you’re not exactly pulling up trees with them anyway.

“Just make a decision. Be a big club and say ‘OK if you don’t accept what we want to do, move on, we’ll get someone else’.

“It’s Manchester United and sometimes you forget how big the club is, you don’t forget, but never forget how big the club is and the power that they’ve got.

“Don’t ever let these players dictate the club about signing contracts, showing a poor attitude – just get rid of them.”

Manchester United have the chance to restore some pride when the Red Devils take on Manchester City in the derby clash at Old Trafford on Wednesday night.

The Red Devils are in fifth place in the Premier League table and two points adrift of Arsenal after the Gunners suffered a surprise 3-2 loss to Crystal Palace on Sunday.
