Manchester United are admirers of Benfica teenager Joao Felix after scouting the midfielder in recent weeks, according to a report
Manchester United are preparing a bid to sign Benfica winger Joao Felix in the summer, according to a report in England.
The Sun is reporting that Felix has been impressing Manchester United scouts with his performances for Benfica this season.
The same article states that the Red Devils have been keeping tabs on Felix this term and Manchester United watched the teenager as recently as last weekend.
According to the same story, the 20-time English champions will have to make an offer in the region of £100m to land the 19-year-old in the 2019 summer transfer window.
Manchester United could face competition from Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich and La Liga side Real Madrid for Felix’s signature, the reports adds.
The Sun go on to quote a source close to Manchester United who underlined the club’s interest for the talented midfielder:
“The club went to see Felix in action and it was all positive. He is seen as a real talent.
“He is definitely someone who is increasingly of interest. He is a clever playmaker and in a similar vein to Portugal legend Deco.
“The scouts saw him during the derby against Sporting Lisbon and he scored. There looks like there is going to be moves for him.”
The talented teenager has scored seven times and has made two assists in eight starts and five substitute appearances in the Portuguese top flight this season.
Felix scored in their 4-2 win over bitter rivals Sporting Lisbon at the start of the month to suggest the youngster isn’t fazed by big occasions.
The Benfica starlet made his debut in a 2–0 Primeira Liga win at Boavista last August.
