The Manchester Evening News is reporting that the Red Devils are looking to conclude a deal with La Liga giants Real Madrid to sign the Spain international by the end of the week.
The story goes on to reveal that the Europa League winners want to unveil Morata before Manchester United jet off to California to start their preparations for the 2017-18 Premier League season.
According to the same article, Mourinho has identified 24-year-old Morata as the perfect striker to lead his attack after releasing Zlatan Ibrahimovic earlier this summer.
The Red Devils were initially targeting France international Antoine Griezmann in the summer transfer window before Atletico Madrid’s transfer ban prompted the striker to commit to los Rojiblancos.
