Manchester United want to sign Barcelona midfielder Andre Gomes in the summer transfer window, according to reports
Manchester United have entered the race with Serie A champions Juventus to sign Barcelona midfielder Andre Gomes, according to reports.
Spanish media outlet Mundo Deportivo is reporting that Manchester United are interested in signing the 23-year-old midfielder.
Barcelona star Gomes uses the same agent as Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho: Jorge Mendes.
According to Mundo Deportivo, the super agent has informed Barcelona of interest from Manchester United in the 2017 summer transfer window.
However, the same article states that the Spanish giants would be reluctant to lose the talented Portugal international.
Gomes moved to Barcelona in a £48m deal from La Liga rivals Valencia last summer despite being linked with a switch to Manchester United.
The Portugal international scored three times in 40 appearances in all competitions in what was a largely disappointing season.
Manchester United signed Gomes’ former Benfica team-mate Victor Lindelof in a £30m deal last week.
The Red Devils are preparing for a return to the Champions League next season thanks to a 2-0 win against Dutch side Ajax in the Europa League final.
