Man United told when 23-year-old can leave Serie A club
Reported Manchester United target Andrea Belotti won't be leaving Torino until 2021, according to the club's president
Andrea Belotti won’t leave Torino until 2021 despite interest from Manchester United, according to the Italian club’s president.
The 23-year-old has been linked with a potential switch to the Premier League after his standout season in Serie A with Torino.
Belotti scored 26 times in 35 games in Serie A but the Turin side could only muster a ninth-placed finish in the Italian top flight.
Manchester United have been linked with a number of top strikers in the summer transfer window after the Red Devils opted to release Zlatan Ibrahimovic earlier this month.
The Red Devils are thought to have competition from Ligue 1 side Paris Saint-Germain and AC Milan for the centre-forward’s signature.
However, Torino president Urbano Cairo has dealt a blow to Belotti’s suitors after reiterating that the striker won’t be leaving before the end of his contract in 2021.
“I’ve not had any contact from anyone,” Cairo told Sky Sports Italia, as quoted by the Daily Mail. “Not from PSG, Manchester United or AC Milan.
“He’s under contract until 2021 and that means he has to stick with us.
“I care about Belotti and I’m keeping hold of him.
“He has a contract with Torino until 2021. I would only sell him for €100m (£88m), but even then he can refuse.
“The most important thing is what he wants, regardless of the release clause, and I believe he wants to stay.
“We are trying to build the best possible team at Torino.”
Manchester United completed their first summer signing last week after Sweden international Victor Lindelof completed a £30.7m deal from Portuguese champions Benfica.
The Red Devils secured their spot in next season’s Champions League thanks to winning the Europa League trophy after a 2-0 win against Ajax in May.
