Man United star responds to transfer talk amid Arsenal link
The Manchester United striker brands speculation surrounding his future as "false"
Anthony Martial has branded rumours linking the Manchester United striker with a move away from Old Trafford as “false”.
The France international endured a tough second season at the club following Jose Mourinho’s appointment as Louis van Gaal’s successor back in May 2016.
Martial thrived under the management of Van Gaal after the Dutch coach brought Martial to Manchester United in a £36m deal from Ligue 1 side AS Monaco in the 2015 summer transfer window.
The 21-year-old scored a respectable 11 goals in 49 appearances in his first season as a Manchester United player to help the Red Devils to win the FA Cup crown at Wembley.
However, Mourinho has been heavily critical of Martial throughout the 2016-17 season to prompt speculation the manager has given the striker clearance to leave this summer.
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is reported to be monitoring Martial’s situation and views the striker as a potential alternative to Kylian Mbappe.
But the Manchester United striker has taken to Twitter to respond directly to the transfer speculation surrounding the France international’s future.
Martial wrote: “The rumours are false 🔴”
Manchester United won the EFL Cup and the Europa League in their first season under Mourinho but finished in sixth place in the Premier League table.
