Man United told Cristiano Ronaldo’s heart is at Old Trafford
Manchester United fans have been offered hope amid reports the Red Devils could re-sign Cristiano Ronaldo
Manchester United have Cristiano Ronaldo’s “heart”, amid talk of a potential return to Old Trafford this summer, according to former Real Madrid president Ramon Calderon.
The Portugal international has reportedly informed Real Madrid that he wants to leave the Champions League winners this summer after becoming upset at accusations of tax fraud in Spain.
Naturally, Manchester United has been touted as a potential destination for the 32-year-old forward after Ronaldo moved to Real Madrid from Old Trafford in a world-record deal in 2009.
Ronaldo won three Premier League titles, two League Cups, the FA Cup and the Champions League during a six-season stay at Old Trafford under Sir Alex Ferguson.
His compatriot Jose Mourinho is currently in charge at the 20-time English champions and the manager shares the same agent as Ronaldo – Jorge Mendes.
Former Real Madrid president Calderon signed Ronaldo from Manchester United eight years ago, and he reckons the Portugual legend still has a big soft spot for the Red Devils.
“I remember when I signed Cristiano, he phoned me and said everyone at Manchester United was really happy and kind to him,” Calderon told the Sun.
“Sir Alex Ferguson was like a father and he loved the fans.
“The club has been very important in his career. Manchester United is a club he has in his heart.”
Manchester United won the EFL Cup and the Europa League in their first season under Mourinho’s management.
The Red Devils did finish in sixth place in the Premier League table.
