Man United ready to sell 28-year-old to fund January signing – report
Manchester United are prepared to sell Matteo Darmian to Napoli to fund a move for a new left-back, say reports
Manchester United are prepared to sell Matteo Darmian to Italian club Napoli in the January transfer window to fund a move to sign a new left-back, according to reports in the British media.
The Daily Mirror is reporting that the Serie A side have made enquiries to Manchester United about the possibility of signing the Italian defender in the new year.
Should Darmian leave Old Trafford to return to his native homeland, the same report claims that would pave the way for Manchester United to sign a new left-back in January, with both Danny Rose and Alex Sandro touted as potential targets.
The same report states that both Juventus and Roma have also been credited with an interest in signing Darmian of late.
The Italy international has found his first-team opportunities at Old Trafford to be severely restricted this season, with the defender having only started seven games in all competitions this term.
Indeed, he has only featured four times in the Premier League so far and just two of those appearances were from the start.
Meanwhile, Manchester United are currently preparing for their Premier League trip to Leicester City on Saturday night, as they bid to get back to winning ways following their shock League Cup exit at the hands of Bristol City on Wednesday night.
