Pundit explains why Man United have lost interest in 23-year-old Brazilian
Craig Burley believes Fabinho's dip towards the end of the 2016-17 season curtailed Manchester United's interest in the midfielder

Craig Burley has suggested that Jose Mourinho has lost interest in Fabinho as Manchester United look to be targeting Nemanja Matic ahead of the Monaco star.
The Brazilian midfielder has been heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford since Mourinho took over the reins from Louis van Gaal back in May 2016.
Fabinho played under Mourinho at La Liga giants Real Madrid before the versatile Brazilian sealed a move to Ligue 1 side Monaco in 2013.
The 23-year-old was a key part of the Monaco side that won the Ligue 1 title ahead of Paris Saint-Germain last season.
Fabinho helped the French side reach the Champions League semi-finals before a 4-2 aggregate loss to Serie A giants Juventus.
The South American did end the season on the bench after being overlooked in a number of Ligue 1 games.
Former Chelsea defender Burley has suggested that Mourinho’s faith in Fabinho has dwindled following his end-of-season displays.
“Maybe it is a financial thing. Monaco wanted too much money,” Burley told ESPN FC.
“Man United were linked with him last summer but it didn’t happen.
“He was dropped at the end of the season so maybe Jose hasn’t seen in him this year what he likes.”
Manchester United have only signed Sweden international Victor Lindelof in the summer transfer window from Portuguese champions Benfica.
