Gabriele Marcotti offers Man United encouragement about exciting 18-year-old goalkeeper
Serie A expert Gabriele Marcotti sheds light on talk of Gianluigi Donnarumma leaving AC Milan amid Premier League interest
Gabriele Marcotti has backed AC Milan goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma to move abroad this summer.
The 18-year-old recently stunned AC Milan fans after the shot stopper confirmed his intention to leave the Rossoneri.
Donnarumma has less than 12 months remaining on his contract amid talk of a potential move to Serie A champions Juventus.
Manchester City and Manchester United have been linked with a move to sign the teenager ahead of the 2017 summer transfer window.
Indeed, Pep Guardiola could be in the market to sign a goalkeeper, with England number one Joe Hart widely expected to leave The Etihad this summer.
Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea, meanwhile, has been regularly linked with a move to Champions League holders Real Madrid.
Speaking to ESPN FC about Donnarumma’s next move after the teenager confirmed his intention to leave Milan, Serie A expert Marcotti told ESPN FC:
“If he does go, he’ll go abroad. I don’t see him joining another Italian club.”
Manchester United signed De Gea in a £17m deal from La Liga giants Atletico Madrid in 2011.
The Spain international was close to a move to Real Madrid before the move fell through at the final hour.
