Gabriele Marcotti sends warning to Man United about Ivan Perisic
The ESPN FC reporter is worried about what Ivan Perisic would bring to Manchester United
Gabriele Marcotti has expressed his concerns about Manchester United signing Inter Milan winger Ivan Perisic this summer.
The Red Devils finished in sixth place in the Premier League table last season after a disappointing first campaign under Jose Mourinho.
Manchester United won the EFL Cup at Wembley back in February thanks to the Red Devils’ 3-2 win against Southampton to secure their first major trophy of the 2016-17 season.
Mourinho secured a spot in next season’s Champions League thanks to a 2-0 victory over Dutch giants Ajax in the Europa League final.
The Manchester United boss will be hoping to improve his squad this summer ahead of a return to Europe’s premier club competition.
The Red Devils have been heavily linked with a move to sign Inter Milan winger Perisic in the summer transfer window.
The 28-year-old would add pace and width to the Manchester United side, something which Mourinho’s line-up was accused of lacking last season.
Serie A expert Marcotti has concerns about the Croatia international and a potential move to Manchester United.
“I think he’s a useful player, when he’s good, he’s very good,” Marcotti told ESPN FC.
“But he’s also 28 years old, he’s been inconsistent and I really don’t see him playing a position that is a pressing need for Manchester United right now.
“I’m pretty sure Mourinho views him the same way.”
