Jose Mourinho wants Manchester United to wrap up a deal to sign Alvaro Morata from Real Madrid before Sunday, according to journalist James Cooper.
The Red Devils have been relentlessly linked with a move to bring the Spanish forward to Old Trafford in recent weeks but a deal has not yet materialised.
Manchester United have been linked with Morata and a number of other players throughout the summer, but the Red Devils have so far only concluded a deal to sign defender Victor Lindelof from Benfica.
The Red Devils are preparing to report back to Carrington for pre-season training this weekend before jetting off to the US for their tour.
And reporter Cooper has revealed that Mourinho is very much hoping that Manchester United can conclude a deal for Morata before Sunday.
Speaking on Sky Sports News HQ on Tuesday morning, Cooper said: “The Alvaro Morata deal is something he [Mourinho] would like done this week if possible.
“To give you an idea of the timeline on that, Manchester United are back in training at Carrington on Saturday and they then go to the United States for their tour on Sunday.
“Jose Mourinho would dearly like to have the signings done in time for that.”
Manchester United are preparing for a return to the Champions League next season, after Mourinho led the Red Devils to Europa League glory in his first season in charge.
