Expert claims top striker wants Man United transfer but Chelsea posing a problem
Jan Aage Fjortoft has claimed that Romelu Lukaku would prefer a move to Manchester United in the summer transfer window
Romelu Lukaku wants to move to Manchester United in the summer but Chelsea have first option to re-sign the striker from Everton, according to Jan Aage Fjortoft.
The Belgium international moved to Everton in a £27m deal from Chelsea in a permanent deal in the 2014 summer transfer window after being deemed surplus to requirements under Jose Mourinho.
The 24-year-old has proven a sensation at Goodison Park after an impressive return of 68 goals in 141 appearances over the past four seasons in an Everton shirt.
Manchester United were thought to have made Lukaku their top summer target after ending their interest in Atletico Madrid striker Antoine Griezmann last week.
However, the Red Devils will face a tug-of-war with Premier League champions Chelsea amid reports Antonio Conte has made signing Lukaku a priority this summer.
Bundesliga expert Fjortoft claimed that Lukaku’s preferred option could be a move to Manchester United but Chelsea have the advantage with first option on the striker.
Fjortoft wrote on Twitter: “I guess Lukaku wants to go to Man UTD. Only problem is that Chelsea could have 1st option.
“But my guess: The new Man UTD-striker.”
Fjortoft added: “Re: Lukaku If Chelsea have done their homework they have an option. But understand he is main-target for Man UTD.”
Manchester United won the Europa League last month to secure a place in next season’s Champions League.
