Insider claims Man United outbid Chelsea for 24-year-old striker
Sky Sports News presenter Jim White claims Manchester United outbid Chelsea for Everton striker Romelu Lukaku

Manchester United outbid Chelsea in the race to sign Romelu Lukaku to win the race for the striker, according to Jim White.
The Sky Sports News presenter has revealed on Twitter that Manchester United have still managed to eclipse Chelsea’s offer for the 24-year-old striker.
Manchester United confirmed on Saturday morning that they had agreed a fee with Everton to sign Lukaku from the Toffees, subject to a medical and personal terms being agreed.
The Belgium international has endured a dramatic week in his Premier League career after it appeared at the end of June that Lukaku was set to return to Chelsea.
However, it was widely reported on Thursday that Manchester United had stolen a march on their rivals and managed to agree a £75m fee with Everton for the Belgian star.
In a fresh twist on Friday evening, Premier League champions Chelsea were thought to have match Manchester United’s offer to give Lukaku a tough decision to make.
But Sky Sports News presenter White, who has earned cult hero status for his deadline day coverage, pointed to Manchester United’s financial muscle as the key factor in the deal.
White posted on Twitter: “Latest: Romelu Lukaku Old Trafford-bound as @ManUtd have outbid @ChelseaFC. Rooney to return to @Everton tomorrow”
Lukaku scored 25 times in 36 games in the Premier League last season to finish behind Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane in the race to win the golden boot.
