Man United told Everton won’t accept makeweight in deal for 24-year-old – report
Manchester United have been told to forget about using Wayne Rooney as a makeweight in a deal to sign Romelu Lukaku, according to reports

Everton won’t entertain Manchester United using Wayne Rooney as a makeweight in a deal to sign Romelu Lukaku, according to reports in the English media.
talkSPORT is reporting the Red Devils are considering using the England and Manchester United captain in a potential deal to complete the signing of Lukaku from Everton.
The same article is stating that Toffees billionaire owner Farhad Moshiri will not accept Manchester United using Rooney as a sweetener in a deal to sign Lukaku.
The 24-year-old has been heavily linked with a move to Premier League champions Chelsea and Europa League winners Manchester United in the summer transfer window.
Lukaku scored 25 times in 36 games in the Premier League to finish as the Premier League’s second-highest goal-scorer behind Tottenham Hotspur forward Harry Kane.
Rooney, meanwhile, struggled to make an impression under Jose Mourinho in the Portuguese coach’s first season in charge at Old Trafford.
Manchester United finished in sixth place in the Premier League table last season but still managed to qualify for the Champions League thanks to a 2-0 win against Dutch giants Ajax in the Europa League final.
