Man United target ‘shocked’ by Mourinho’s decision to sign Lindelof – report
Michael Keane has been left "shocked" and "devastated" by Manchester United's decision to sign Victor Lindelof this summer, say reports
Michael Keane has been left “shocked” and “in limbo” after Manchester United opted to sign Victor Lindelof ahead of him this summer, according to reports.
The Daily Mirror is claiming that Keane was left surprised by Mourinho’s decision to bring Sweden international Lindelof to Old Trafford as he was expecting to be Manchester United’s top defensive target this summer.
The same story states that Keane was led to believe that he would be Mourinho’s top defensive target this summer, only to be left “shocked” by the Red Devils’ move to bring in Lindelof from Benfica earlier this month.
Keane had been linked with a return to his boyhood club from Burnley in the build-up to the summer transfer window but a move back to Old Trafford now looks unlikely.
The 24-year-old is said to be “devastated” by Manchester United’s snub as he now assesses his options for next season.
Everton are said to be the favourites to sign Keane this summer as the Toffees look to strengthen their rearguard options.
Keane is likely to want regular first-team football next season in the lead-up to the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
