Zinedine Zidane hoping to keep top striker wanted by Man United – report
The Real Madrid manager is hoping to retain the services of Alvaro Morata despite interest from Chelsea and Man United, according to reports
Zinedine Zidane is still hoping to keep Alvaro Morata this summer despite the Real Madrid striker being heavily linked with a move to the Premier League.
Marca, as quoted by the Daily Mirror, is reporting that the Real Madrid boss wants the Spain international to remain at The Bernabeu despite using the centre-forward sparingly throughout the 2016-17 campaign.
Indeed, Morata made a mere 14 starts and racked up a further 12 appearances from the bench in La Liga as the 2016 summer signing spent most of the season behind Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema, Isco and Gareth Bale in the pecking order.
The same article states that Chelsea and Manchester United are interested in signing the 24-year-old striker in the summer transfer window.
Morata scored 15 times in the 2016-17 La Liga campaign following his return to Real Madrid from Serie A giants Juventus last summer.
The Spanish forward made one start in Real Madrid’s Champions League campaign as Zidane led los Blancos to a 4-1 win against Juventus in the final last weekend.
