Manchester City are in pole position to sign Harry Maguire ahead of Manchester United, according to a report

Manchester City appear set to to beat Manchester United to the signing of Leicester City defender Harry Maguire, according to a report in England.
The Daily Star is reporting that Manchester City are favourites to sign Maguire ahead of their bitter city rivals.
The same article states that the Premier League champions are prepared to offer £65m to sign the England international.
According to the same story, Maguire is set to undergo a medical at the The Etihad ahead of his proposed transfer.
The Daily Star go on to reveal that Manchester United couldn’t reach an agreement with Leicester for Maguire.
The Red Devils had a bid of £40m turned down for the 26-year-old last week but didn’t return with improved terms to leave Manchester City in control of the race for his signature, according to the report.
The story adds that Manchester City have matched the wages that Manchester United were prepared to offer Maguire, while the Citizens were able to offer the former Hull centre-half the chance to sample Champions League football next term.
Maguire has established himself as one of England’s best centre-halves over the past couple of seasons at Leicester.
The Red Devils finished in sixth place in the Premier League table last term.
