Manchester United are facing competition from Inter Milan for Croatian midfielder Mateo Kovacic

Manchester United will have to see off competition from Inter Milan to sign Mateo Kovacic in the January transfer window, according to reports.
The Daily Mirror is claiming that the Red Devils are in the market to sign the Croatia international to improve their defensive midfield options.
According to the same story, Manchester United are ready to swoop to sign the out of favour Real Madrid midfielder but face competition from Inter Milan.
The same article reveals that Inter Milan are in pole position to sign the 23-year-old given the Austrian-born star spent two seasons at the San Siro outfit before his move to Real Madrid.
The Croatia international has scored three goals in 88 appearances in all competitions during his spell at los Blancos.
Kovacic has won the La Liga title and has lifted the Champions League twice in what has been a silverware-laden spell at Real Madrid.
Manchester United signed Chile international Alexis Sanchez from Arsenal in a swap deal on Monday evening as Henrikh Mkhitaryan completed a switch to the Gunners.
The Red Devils are in second place in the Premier League table but 12 points adrift of runaway leaders Manchester City.
