Manchester United won’t consider loaning out Henrikh Mkhitaryan, according to reporter Dharmesh Sheth.

The Armenia international has struggled to convince at Manchester United over the past 18 months or so.

Jose Mourinho is rumoured to have been told that any January deals for a playmaker would have to be funded by the sale of Mkhitaryan.

The former Borussia Dortmund midfielder has struggled to make a lasting impression at Old Trafford since his £30m move to Manchester United from the Bundesliga club in 2016.

Inter Milan have been linked with a loan swoop to sign the attacking midfielder in the current transfer window, while Dortmund have been named as another potential destination for Mkhitaryan.

Reports on Thursday suggested that the Red Devils could look to beat Manchester City to the signing of Sanchez and use Mkhitaryan as bait to help reach an agreement with Arsenal.

Sky Sports News reporter Sheth confirmed that Manchester United will only consider selling Mkhitaryan on a permanent deal, which could work in Arsenal’s favour.

“The noises we are getting from Man United and other clubs interested in him, like Inter who want a loan done, Man United would only consider a sale,” Sheth told the Transfer Talk podcast. “Mkhitaryan only wants a permanent move.”

Mkhitaryan scored Manchester United’s second goal in a 2-0 win against Dutch side Ajax in the Eredivisie.

Manchester United won the League Cup and the Europa League last term.
