Man United opens talks with 23-year-old French striker – report
Man United make contact with Lyon striker Moussa Dembele, according to a report
Manchester United have made contact with Lyon striker Moussa Dembele, according to a report in Scotland.
The Daily Record, as quoted by Metro, is reporting that the Red Devils have opened talks with the France international about a potential move in the January transfer window.
The same article states that the 23-year-old is eager to complete a move to the 20-time English champions in January to help Manchester United bolster their attacking options.
According to the report, Manchester United could have to pay £71m for Dembele if Lyon are able to secure their asking price for the former Celtic striker.
The Daily Record goes on to claim that Dembele is unhappy with his current situation at Lyon, which could play into Manchester United’s hands ahead of the January transfer window.
Dembele has scored six times in 10 games in all competitions so far this season.
The French striker started his professional career at Fulham before Celtic signed the 23-year-old in 2016.
Dembele won two Scottish Premier League titles, two Scottish Cups and two Scottish League Cups during his three-year stint at Parkhead.
Manchester United sold Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez in the summer to weaken their options up front under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
The Red Devils are in 12th place in the Premier League table.
