Manchester United have rejected Paris Saint-Germain’s proposal of a swap deal involving Neymar and Paul Pogba, according to a report in England.

The Independent is reporting that PSG looked to offload wantaway Brazil international Neymar by offering Manchester United the chance to sign the prolific goal-scorer.

The same article states that Ed Woodward is eager to land a marquee signing but Manchester United executive vice-chairman is reluctant to agree to a swap deal for two reasons.

According to the same story, Manchester United wouldn’t be able to match Neymar’s £900,000-a-week wages, which would blow apart the wage structure at the 20-time English champions.

The Independent story goes on to add that Woodward remains desperate to keep Pogba at Old Trafford despite the French star being linked with Juventus and Real Madrid this summer.

Manchester United have lacked a prolific goal threat up front since Robin van Persie fired the Red Devils to Premier League title glory in Sir Alex Ferguson’s final season in charge in 2013.

The 20-time English champions signed Romelu Lukaku in a £75m deal from Everton in 2017 but the Belgium international has been unable to find consistent form in front of goal.

Manchester United have only signed Wales international Daniel James in a £15m deal from Swansea City this summer.
