Man United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer insists Paul Pogba will stay at Old Trafford
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has reiterated that Paul Pogba won’t be leaving Manchester United this summer.
The France international has been linked with an exit at Old Trafford throughout most of the summer transfer window so far.
La Liga giants Real Madrid were thought to be interested in a swoop to sign the French midfielder to bolster their squad ahead of the new season.
Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane was reported to be a big admirer of the World Cup winner as the France legend looks to improve his midfield.
His former club Juventus have also been touted as a potential location for Pogba, although the Turin side appear to be more interested in his team-mate Romelu Lukaku.
Pogba didn’t feature in Manchester United’s penalty shootout victory over AC Milan at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff.
Speaking at his post-match media conference, Solskjaer insisted Pogba wouldn’t be leaving Manchester United this summer.
“I have no doubt, Paul Pogba will stay at Manchester United this summer,” Solskjaer said.
On Pogba’s absence in Cardiff, Solskjaer added: “I wasn’t expecting him [to travel].
“I spoke to him after training and he didn’t feel right. It’s not an injury, it’s just some pain. I wasn’t going to risk anything.”
Manchester United finished in sixth spot in the Premier League table last season to miss out on a place in the Champions League.
The Red Devils appointed Solskjaer as their new manager at the end of March after the Norwegian head coach temporarily replaced Jose Mourinho in December.
Manchester United haven’t won the Premier League title since 2013.
