Paul Pogba urged to stay at Man United despite difficult 2017-18 season
Stewart Robson believes Paul Pogba should remain at Manchester United beyond the summer
Paul Pogba can still blossom into a world class player at Manchester United, Stewart Robson has claimed.
The France international has endured a difficult second season back at Old Trafford under Jose Mourinho.
He made a positive start to the 2017-18 season after two goals and two assists in his opening four games.
However, the France international suffered a serious knee problem to rule him out until November.
Pogba returned to the Manchester United side but struggled as part of a midfield pair alongside Nemanja Matic.
The club record signing received criticism from his manager Jose Mourinho for failing to carry out his defensive duties.
The 25-year-old scored twice in a 3-2 comeback win against derby rivals Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium.
Pogba has been linked with a potential move to La Liga giants Real Madrid and Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain.
Former Arsenal star Robson believes Pogba should remain at Manchester United despite speculation surrounding his future.
“He is an exceptional player,” Robson told ESPN FC. “He can be a world class player.
“Man United is still the right club for him. Mourinho can still get the best out of him. Pogba should stay at Man United.”
Pogba secured a return to Manchester United in an £89m deal from Serie A side Juventus in the 2016 summer transfer window.
Sir Alex Ferguson allowed the France star to move to Juventus in an £800,000 deal in 2012.
