Danny Murphy doesn’t believe Manchester United will sell Paul Pogba unless Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has a replacement lined up.

The France international’s future has been a source of relentless debate once again in the summer transfer window.

Pogba endured a difficult 2018-19 season under Jose Mourinho and Solskjaer as the World Cup winner struggled to find a level of consistency.

The 26-year-old has been linked with a potential big-money move to La Liga giants Real Madrid this summer.

His former club Juventus are also thought to be interested in a deal to re-sign the versatile midfielder.

Manchester United have been linked with a number of midfielder this summer, including Newcastle youngster Sean Longstaff and Sporting Lisbon playmaker Bruno Fernandes.

And former Liverpool FC and Tottenham midfielder Murphy doesn’t envisage Manchester United offloading Pogba before the start of the season unless they’ve already got his replacement sorted.

“Man United won’t let Pogba leave if they’re not given enough time to find a replacement,” Murphy told bWIN.

“The main issue Utd have is that they need a midfielder who can come in and score and assist the amount of goals he has.

“Solskjaer may believe that he can get the best out of Pogba again, but if he really wants to leave then it’s better to sell him.

“You don’t want a player who doesn’t want to be at the club, as it effects the whole team. If every player isn’t singing from the same hymn sheet, then it can divide the whole team and produce bad performances. It’s better to get rid of them as soon as possible.

“If Man United let Pogba leave for a hefty fee, then clubs will instantly add a large sum on to any player Utd try to replace him with.

“The longer they leave it, the more expensive it’s going to be. If Pogba looks set to leave, then Utd need to bring a replacement in before he does.”

Manchester United sacked Mourinho in December after a poor start to the 2018-19 Premier League season.

The Red Devils ended up finishing in sixth place in the Premier League table behind Chelsea FC, Tottenham and Arsenal.

Manchester United failed to win a trophy last season for the second successive campaign.

The 20-time English champions have signed Swansea midfielder Daniel James and Crystal Palace defender Aaron Wan-Bissaka so far this summer.
