Paul Pogba’s brother gives latest Man United transfer update
Mathias Pogba claims his brother will force through a move to Real Madrid if the Man United star has his heart set on a switch
Mathias Pogba has claimed his brother Paul Pogba will force a move to Real Madrid this summer if the Manchester United star is convinced it’s the “best club for him”.
The France international’s future has been a source of relentless debate throughout the summer transfer window after Real Madrid’s interest in the World Cup winner became clear.
Pogba endured a difficult two-and-a-half years under Jose Mourinho after Manchester United signed the versatile midfielder in a club record £89m deal from Juventus.
Mourinho’s departure in December gave Pogba a new lease of life but the 26-year-old returned to his inconsistent ways in the last couple of months of the season.
Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane is thought to be keen to sign the Manchester United club-record signing this summer to bolster his midfield ahead of the new La Liga season.
Pogba’s brother Mathias has now attempted to provide an insight into the Manchester United midfielder’s current mindset.
“I feel my brother could help any team,” Mathias told AS, as quoted by Metro.
“If he plays for Madrid, he will help Madrid. I always want what’s the best for my brother. If he feels Real Madrid is the best club for him, he will come.’
“I’m in Spain because I want to be and it has nothing to do with the possibility of my younger brother securing a move.
“We can’t do anything about the rumours.”
Manchester United will be desperate to avoid losing Pogba so close to the start of the new Premier League season.
The Red Devils will begin the domestic campaign with a home clash against Chelsea FC on 11 August.
Manchester United have signed Swansea star Daniel James and Crystal Palace defender Aaron Wan-Bissaka this summer.
