Ryan Giggs offers advice to reported Man United transfer target
Ryan Giggs has his say on Dan James' expected transfer to Man United this summer
Ryan Giggs is backing Dan James to make the “right decision” about his future as he continues to be linked with a summer transfer to Manchester United.
The 21-year-old has been widely reported to have already agreed terms with Manchester United about a move to Old Trafford as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer moves quickly to bolster his squad.
Sky Sports is reporting that the Red Devils are expected to sign James in a £15m deal this summer as they look to start their transfer business early.
Now, his international manager Giggs has insisted that he would be happy wherever he ends up playing, but he appeared to also endorse James’ apparent decision to join Manchester United.
Speaking in an interview quoted by Sky Sports, Giggs said: “Ideally, as an international manager, you don’t want to influence players’ decisions when it comes to clubs. For me, it’s about players playing.
“He was fantastic in the last six months for Swansea, putting in devastating performances and I think he can play at any level.
“He could play in the Premier League, but if he stays at Swansea for another year or two years I’d be equally as happy because he’s done so well there.
“That’s a decision for Dan to make and I’m sure he’ll make the right decision.”
James scored four goals and made seven assists in 33 Championship appearances for the Welsh side this season.
The Red Devils are thought to be on the lookout for a whole host of players this summer as Solskjaer looks to add to his squad ahead of the start of next season.
Manchester United ended up in sixth place in the Premier League table and without a trophy this season.
