Man United ready to bid £46m for FC Barcelona defender – report
Manchester United are ready to make an offer of £46m for Samuel Umtiti should a deal for Harry Maguire fall through, according to a report

Manchester United are prepared to make an offer for FC Barcelona defender Samuel Umtiti if they’re unable to get a deal over the line for Harry Maguire, according to a report in France.
French media outlet Le 10 Sport, as quoted by Metro, is reporting that France international Umtiti is now a genuine target for the 20-time English champions.
The same article states that Manchester United have held initial discussions with FC Barcelona over a potential deal to sign the French star in the summer transfer window.
According to the same story, the Red Devils would be prepared to pay £46m to sign Umtiti from the Spanish champions, which is almost half Leicester City’s asking price for Maguire.
The report goes on to add that Manchester United may have to do a little negotiating given that FC Barcelona are looking to secure a transfer fee in the region of £55m.
The story points out that Manchester United are still eager to sign Maguire but the club’s executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward wants to have an alternative target in place.
Manchester United have already signed Swansea City midfielder Daniel James and Crystal Palace full-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka in the summer transfer window so far.
The Red Devils haven’t won the Premier League title since 2013.
