Samuel Umtiti is threatening to join Manchester United unless Barcelona meet his wage demands, according to a report in Spain
Samuel Umtiti wants a pay increase at Barcelona otherwise the France defender will push for a move to Manchester United, according to a report in Spain.
Don Balon, as quoted by the Daily Star, is reporting that Umtiti wants to secure a new pay packet worth in the region of £7m a year.
The same article states that the France international is open to a move to Manchester United in the summer transfer window if Barcelona fail to meet his demands.
According to the same story, Jose Mourinho has secured permission to activate Umtiti’s £53m contract release clause at the end of the season if the Frenchman becomes available.
Umtiti has established himself as a key member of the Barcelona squad since a £20m move to the Camp Nou from French club Lyon in the 2016 summer transfer window.
The 24-year-old has scored one goal in 70 appearances in all competitions during his past 18 and a half months at the Catalan side.
Manchester United are in the market to sign a centre-half given the well-documented struggles of Phil Jones and Chris Smalling in the current campaign.
The Red Devils signed Victor Lindelof in a £30m deal last summer but the Sweden international has struggled at Manchester United.
