Newcastle owner Mike Ashley is adamant that Manchester United target Sean Longstaff is not for sale this summer.
The Red Devils have been linked with a move to sign the 21-year-old throughout the summer transfer window so far,
Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is thought to be eager to sign Longstaff to bolster his midfield options.
Rafael Benitez was responsible for giving Longstaff the chance to shine in the Newcastle team over the past 12 months.
However, the Spanish head coach parted company with the Magpies earlier this summer to cast doubt on Longstaff’s future.
Steve Bruce has taken over the reins of Newcastle but Longstaff’s future is still a source of debate with a new manager to win over.
Newcastle were reported to have quoted a £50m asking price for Longstaff, which is the same fee that Manchester United paid for Aaron Wan-Bissaka.
But the club’s owner Ashley is adamant that Longstaff is not for sale at any price this summer.
“The message we want to put out is that he is not for sale,” Ashley is quoted as saying by Metro.
“If you’ve got one like Sean – keep him.”
Manchester United signed Wan-Bissaka in a £50m deal from Crystal Palace earlier this month to bolster their options at full-back.
The 20-time English champions started their summer spending with the £18m addition of Swansea midfielder Daniel James.
The Red Devils haven’t won the Premier League title since 2013.
