Tottenham Hotspur have told Manchester United that Toby Alderweireld will cost £75m in the summer transfer window, according to a report in England.
The Daily Mirror, as quoted by The Sun, is reporting Alderweireld remains one of Manchester United’s top targets ahead of the new Premier League season.
The same article states that the Belgian defender is one of Jose Mourinho’s priorities in the summer transfer window.
According to the same story, Manchester United chief executive Ed Woodward and Spurs chairman Daniel Levy have been in negotiations over the Belgian defender in recent weeks.
The report goes on to emphasise that Tottenham have proven reluctant to budge on their £75m asking price in the transfer market ahead of August’s deadline.
Manchester United have also been linked with a move to sign Leicester City’s World Cup star Harry Maguire and AC Milan defender Leonardo Bonucci.
The Red Devils signed Brazil international Fred in a £52m deal from Ukrainian Premier League champions Shakhtar Donetsk earlier this summer.
Manchester United have recruited Portuguese defender Diogo Dalot in a £17m deal from FC Porto to improve Mourinho’s options at full-back.
