FC Barcelona star opens up on his future amid Man United talk
Samuel Umtiti reveals that he is still in the dark about his FC Barcelona future amid links to Man United
Samuel Umtiti has admitted that he is in the dark about his FC Barcelona future as he continues to be linked with a move to Manchester United this summer.
The defender has been strongly touted as a possible target for the Red Devils in recent months as Jose Mourinho looks to assemble a squad capable of challenging for the Premier League title next season.
The 24-year-old is yet to pen a new contract at FC Barcelona despite the Spanish side being thought to be keen to tie him down to a new deal.
The France international was a solid performer at the back for the Spanish giants this season, scoring one goal in 25 La Liga appearances.
There was talk that Manchester United were interested in signing Umtiti earlier this year, but that speculation died down amid reports that FC Barcelona were close to getting the defender to commit to a new contract.
However, nothing has yet been signed, and Umtiti has admitted that he would like his situation to be resolved before the start of the World Cup in Russia next month.
Umtiti is quoted as saying by Metro: “On my contract extension I have no news. I look at my phone but I have not been called so nothing has happened.
“My situation? I don’t think it’s going to disturb me too much because it’s been going on for a few months and I had to finish a season like this.
“I think it’s important to settle these cases before the start of the competition and for my part it will be done.”
Manchester United ended the season without a trophy as they finished in second place in the Premier League table.
