Manchester United could sign Willian after FC Barcelona completed a deal for Malcom, reporter Dharmesh Sheth has claimed.
The Red Devils have been regularly linked with a move to sign the Brazil international since Jose Mourinho took over the reins in 2016.
However, Manchester United haven’t been able to get a deal over the line for the South American forward despite their persistent interest.
FC Barcelona made three bids to sign the Chelsea FC attacker but the Blues resisted the temptation to sell to the La Liga champions.
Manchester United remain keen to sign a winger to improve their attack ahead of Mourinho’s third season in charge.
Sky Sports News reporter Sheth suggested that Manchester United could complete a deal to sign Willian before deadline day.
“Barcelona signing Malcom could reopen the door for Man United to sign Willian,” Sheth told the Transfer Talk podcast.
Manchester United finished in second place in the Premier League table but ended up 19 points adrift of champions Manchester City.
The Red Devils have signed Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder Fred, FC Porto defender Diogo Dalot and English goalkeeper Lee Grant.
Manchester United will start the new Premier League campaign with a clash against 2016 champions Leicester City.
