The Manchester United board are no longer will to trust Jose Mourinho’s judgement on potential signings, Daily Record reporter Ian McGarry has claimed.
The Red Devils are in the market to sign a new centre-half and a right winger in the 2018 summer transfer window.
Manchester United were linked with a move potential swoop to sign Inter Milan forward Ivan Perisic and Chelsea FC attacker Willian.
The 20-time English champions were touted with an interest in a host of different centre-halves, including Harry Maguire, Toby Alderweireld and Yerry Mina.
Manchester United did manage to get three deals over the line to improve Mourinho’s squad depth ahead of the new Premier League season.
Brazil international Fred completed a £52m switch from Ukrainian Premier League champions Shakhtar Donetsk.
Manchester United recruited 19-year-old FC Porto defender Diogo Dalot in a £17m transfer move.
Veteran English goalkeeper Lee Grant moved to the Red Devils in a £1.5m switch from relegated Stoke City.

Daily Record reporter McGarry has claimed that the Manchester United board are no longer willing to give transfer power to Mourinho.
“They are interfering in the transfer policy,” McGarry told the Transfer Window podcast.
“They are citing that Mourinho wants a centre-half but you bought Lindelof and Bailly and they haven’t been good enough.
“There persists a view in the board room that Mourinho can’t be trusted with transfers.”
