Solskjaer drops hint about Greenwood ahead of Man United v Arsenal
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer hints that Mason Greenwood could start for Man United against Arsenal
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has hinted that Mason Greenwood could feature from the start for Manchester United in their crunch clash with Arsenal on Monday night.
The Red Devils are preparing to welcome their old foes to Old Trafford as they look to bounce back from the disappointment of their 2-0 loss to West Ham United last weekend.
Manchester United are suffering from something of an injury crisis up front, with Marcus Rashford currently sidelined and Anthony Martial still not fully match fit.
That means that the Red Devils are light on options up front heading into Monday’s game, and it has unsurprisingly been suggested that 17-year-old Greenwood could be given the nod to start up front.
The teenager has started twice in the cup competitions for the Red Devils this season and scored on both occasions.
And Solskjaer has hinted that Greenwood could be ready to start for Manchester United against Arsenal on Monday night.
Speaking at his pre-match news conference, Solskjaer said of Greenwood: “In the last two games when he’s started, Astana and Rochdale, he’s proven that he’s dangerous when you get him in the box.
“What’s pleased me about him as well in this period is that he doesn’t turn down chances to finish.
“When you’re not 18 yet and you keep trusting yourself, he gets the chances, so I’m not worried about him at all.”
Manchester United are aiming to claim the three points against the Gunners after a stuttering start to the season so far.
The Red Devils have only won two of their opening six Premier League games and they have already lost twice in the top flight.
