Trent Alexander-Arnold has described Manchester United as a “top side” ahead of Liverpool FC’s trip to Old Trafford on Sunday.

The Merseyside outfit are preparing to head to Old Trafford to take on their bitter local rivals as they bid to try and maintain their perfect start to the new campaign.

Liverpool FC are currently flying high in top spot in the Premier League table after having won all eight of their top flight games so far.

Jurgen Klopp’s men are eight points ahead of nearest challengers Manchester City, and a staggering 15 points ahead of Manchester United, who are currently struggling in 12th place in the table.

Sunday’s clash represents one of Liverpool FC’s toughest tests of the season so far.

And Alexander-Arnold has talked up the significance of the Reds’ trip to Old Trafford to take on their arch rivals.

Speaking in an interview with Liverpool FC’s website, Alexander-Arnold said: “Traditionally and historically, the Man United-Liverpool game is always massive.

“It’s one of the biggest games of the season and they’re a top side as well.

“It’s always going to be a big game and a big occasion because both teams want to win it so much.”

Alexander-Arnold went on to explain that Liverpool FC’s past setbacks have made them a stronger side.

He continued: “The players that we have in our side have all had failures before, we’ve all had setbacks and knockbacks.

“We’ve really bounced back from there and got to where we are now and where we are as a team.

“The biggest example of that is probably the fact that we lost the Champions League final the season before and were able to use that as motivation to get back there and win it the next season.

“It’s something a lot of teams aren’t capable of, but we’ve showed that we are and we’re able to get better from disappointment.”

Liverpool FC missed out on the Premier League title by a single point last season as they finished second behind Manchester City.
